Between Italy and Me

On Wednesday 17 April, Venice International University hosted the presentation of the book "The Palazzo di Venezia in Istanbul", edited by Gaetano Cortese, to mark the 100th anniversary of this Diplomatic Seat to the Italian State.

Over 150 students have come from the world over to attend courses of the Spring 2019 term of the Globalization Program. This semester the courses taught by distinguished professors from VIU's member universities have reached the record number of 31, distributed across the core topics Italy, Cultures of the World and Global Challenges, and the specialization track on Environmental Management and Sustainable Development.

Among the students, three have been selected as winners of the RED (Residency-Excellence-Diversity) Scholarship:

VIU is now accepting applications for Erasmus+ grants for studies in VIU member universities in the European Union and in Israel. 

The Fall 2018 term of the Globalization Program will end on Thursday, 20 December 2018 with the official Closing Ceremony, held at 5 pm, Aula Magna.

The prestigious University of Ljubljana officially became a Member of the Venice International University consortium on November 10, 2018.

Venice International University is one of the seven European partners involved in the European project

The pre-registrations for the Spring 2019 semester and registrations for courses of the Gobalization Program are now open.

Over 100 students from all over the world will take courses on Venice and Italy, Cultures of the World and Global Challenges in the 15-week program.

Theory and Practice. Heritage / Present and Future Perspectives

The aim of the conference is to discuss Republicanism in a broad, multidisciplinary and worldwide perspective, and to initiate a series of such meetings to be held in Venice every two years.

During recent decades, Republicanism has become a central concern in political theory and history. This body of thought emerged as the main alternative to Liberalism, when Marxism lost this role after the fall of the Berlin Wall. There is a renewed interest today, while searching for solutions to mounting populism and personalization of power; the issue of inequality and the crisis of democracies.

Starting from October 1, 2018, a new public transport line will be stopping in San Servolo.

Line n°10 from Zattere direct to San Servolo departs at 8.14 (arr. 8.27) and 8.34 (arr. 8.47).

During the Opening Ceremony on September 13, hosted by VIU President Umberto Vattani, VIU had the honour of welcoming two esteemed guests. 

VIU's TeDIS Program has been successful in two applications for EU funding. 

Both projects have been funded through Italy-Croatia INTERREG funding instruments, with the program-specific objective of improving the quality, safety and environmental sustainability of marine and coastal transport services in the Program area. 

VIU has been successful in obtaining the following Erasmus+ funding to support the mobility of students, professors and staff in 2018-2019:
