MOBIS – Business Models for Social Innovation

The MOBIS project introduces local SMEs to B-Corps – for-profit companies certified to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency – with the objective of promoting new business models that favor sustainability, in terms of economic development and social inclusion. Particular attention is put on the creation of new working opportunities for younger generations. The project is organized in the framework of the Veneto Region's efforts to promote new business and evaluation models for the business sector in favour of sustainable social development.

The project identifies business models that have achieved highly positive social impacts in Italy and worldwide. It introduces best practices to a number of selected SMEs, which have the chance to become acquainted with B-Corp principles and pursue certification.

Research focuses on defining and measuring the specific social impact of this sustainable process within the context of the SMEs of the Veneto Region. It also analyses the role of banks and foundation in favoring the adoption of business practices that supports sustainable development and social inclusion.

SMEs interested in participating in the project can apply – participation in seminars is free.

VIU participates in all of the project’s activities and is preparing an international workshop (November 2018) to disseminate the international model of B-Corp alongside the best practices of social inclusion in the context of SMEs.
The project kicked off in December 2017 and will last for 18 months.
The opening Seminar was held on February 5th – the program of the day is available here.

Partners
The project is promoted and led by ISRE (Istituto Superiore Internazionale Salesiano Ricerca Educativa), the University of Padua, IUSVE, CISL/Corazzin Foundation.
The partnership includes a number of association of enterprises, research and dissemination centers among which are Venice International University, Azienda Verde – Coldiretti, Conform, Prism, Veneto Più - Confapi PD.

MOBIS is funded by the “NS2 nuove sfide e nuovi servizi” of the Veneto Region – Direzione Formazione e Istruzione DGR nr. 1267 del 08 agosto2017.
