This topical seminar will look at various indicators to determine how countries worldwide are achieving the goals set forth at the Fourth World Women’s Conference in Beijing held in 1995 with respect to women and employment. Using the Internet, law journals, books and other resources provided by the professor, students will look at programs, policies and legislation described as Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action and Positive Action in the European Union (as a region and in individual countries), Asia-Pacific region (Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, India), Oceania (Australia and New Zealand), Middle East (Israel, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Egypt, Jordou, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Morocco, etc.)Latin America, Central America, and North America (United States, Canada) to determine their relative effectiveness. ?
