9 am - 1 pm | Room 1G
The plenary workshop is a key VIU event in which professors and students of the Globalization Program explore and discuss a theme chosen together at the beginning of the semester.
This semester the theme will be Transition.
Transition is primarily the process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another. Transition can be intended as the human evolution from the past till nowadays, where the man of the third millennium is subjected to transition processes with increasing frequency, and one might even imagine that transitions could become the normal state of existence. Transitions are increasingly characterized by the complexity and heterogeneity of the phenomena that drive and shape their evolution. Another typical feature is their rapid dynamics. These two elements make it difficult to predict the outcomes. The most impactful transitions today involve the pervasiveness of digital technologies, the production and management of energy, the causes of climate change, social relationships, and large-scale migratory processes. The workshop however is open to any interpretation of the word.
Participants will offer their interpretation of an aspect of this theme, working as a class group or on their own, taking inspiration from what has come out of the program of the courses they are attending or presenting their personal experience.
The program will include performances, dialogues, music and dances with the participation of VIU GP students and professors.
Some talks, presentations and videos will stem from the courses taught by:
Massimo Brunzin, Carola Drago and Laura Ventruto (Venice International University)
Frank Heidemann (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität)
Malachi Hacohen (Duke University)
Damiano Canapa (Université de Lausanne)
Ashley Duggan (Boston College)
The detailed program will be soon published in a box at the side of the page.
The Plenary Workshop is a unique opportunity to recognize the VIU community as one, breaking the borders between the courses, training students to address topics of the disciplines taught to a broader audience, revealing the hidden talents of the participants, and forging multicultural and transgenerational bonds.
