We interviewed Prof. Duggan to learn more about her experience at VIU in the Globalization Program.
“It was particularly attractive to see how effective the Venice International University consortium model was in terms of already having thirty year of success and connecting people for teaching, research, capacity building and for bringing different kinds of strength and understanding across different nations and competency areas.”
“Teaching to an international audience has been wonderful and I am grateful for all that I have learned from and with the students, and the faculty and the staff. I think that it has solidified my interest and curiosity in the human aspect of what we bring to things that gets us out of just technical skills or particular areas, and a way of being that is inherently humble and curious, and engaging the other in a way that is quite extraordinary. And I have been grateful for engaging with students, faculty and staff in these ways.”
“The aspect that is the dearest really is the people that I have met and engaged with. And how I have built connections and relationships and community for both now and the future, both with the people who are here and universities who are part of the system. I am very certain that I will continue to engage and connect with my colleagues and I anticipate a lot of the students also.”
