Julie shared insights about VIU academics and her life in Venice in an interview, as a Globalization Program student.
“The first time I arrived I was very surprised because it is so full of different cultures and different countries, everyone comes from some place different with different backgrounds and culture.”
“[The learning experience] is very special because the classes are very small, we max I think 20 students, but most of my classes we are max 10 and we are close to the teacher. And the teacher is also very open to change the program and adapt it to our needs and interests. I don’t have classes like in my home university where you just sit and listen. We are always talking, presenting, we have opportunities to take leads and also to change the course of the class.”
“The teachers come from different countries and they all have different interests. You can study history, art if you want, but also do social science or gender studies at the same time, while learning Italian, it’s crazy to be able to do that all at the same place!”
