Julian shared insights about VIU academics and his life in Venice in an interview, as a Globalization Program student.

“What I found special about the courses here is the strong connection to the local place. I took a lot of courses that are directly interacting with Venice as a place and as a historical text and this is something I found really special seeing the things I have read in the morning about, just returning in the city in the afternoon and seeing what we talked about in the course.”

“The international community is just a great aspect. Living together with people from different countries, different cultural backgrounds shows how little of the things you think are normal or standard do not apply everywhere. You see the differences but also the similarities.”

“Interdisciplinary experience, you can take courses from all over the place, things that do not directly match with your main studies. This gives really good chance to see what else there could be but also what abilities you bring from your studies or your cultural background.”
