PhD student in International Relations

Daria shared insights about VIU academics and her life in Venice in an interview, as a Globalization Program student.

“It is very fruitful. It is a perfect balance. You can take it more easy sometimes, other times you can just dive deeply into the subject and spent three days just writing an essay. So it really depends on how much you want to get into it. It gives a lot of responsibility to the student itself.”

“The networking is just great. With the students, with faculty, with the university, with the city itself and with all the institutions that are based in the city like libraries, scholars, other universities – you can go everywhere, meet people and make new contacts, that is great!”

“The globalization made this experience unique. Because it is connecting people from all over the world: different countries, different ideas, students, and faculty. This is absolutely unique.”

“I am enjoying the whole process. Starting from getting to the island with the boat every day, and being in this amazing building full of history. Also the studying process, I also enjoy the homework that I am doing. Travelling around Venice, Italy – everything is great.”

“It is a great selection of courses that you can add to your studying experience. You can take everything from arts to environmental issues, to history or global governance, management. So it is such a large number of courses that you will definitely find something for you that will broaden your experience.”
