Starting on April 18, 2025, occasional visitors and day-trippers to the city of Venice will have to pay an "Access Fee" to the Municipality of Venice on selected dates.
Students and professors of VIU activities are exempt from the payment.
VIU students will only need to show their VIU card as proof of their student status. Professors will have to register on a dedicated website and receive an exemption voucher.
Non-exempt visitors will have to pay a fee of €10 or €5 based on the date of payment. Late registrations are charged the higher fee.
On the selected dates there may be checks around the city to verify if visitors have paid the fee or have the necessary exemption voucher/document.
The dates for which the Access Fee must be paid, or an exemption voucher might be requested are the following:
- April 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30
- May 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23 , 24, 25, 30, 31
- June 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29
- July 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27
Exemptions
No registration and no fee:
- Residents of the Municipality of Venice
- Residents of the Veneto Region
- Under 14s
- Visitors with disabilities
- Students enrolled in schools and universities based in the city of Venice
Registration required to obtain the exeption voucher (no payment):
- Workers visiting the city for purposes related to their employment
- Visitors who are staying in accommodation in the city and already paying the tourist tax
- Relatives of residents
- Guests of residents
- Participants in sporting events

1. Go to https://cda.veneziaunica.it/en/access-fee
2. Select “Go to the exemptions page”
3. Select the relevant exemption
4. Fill out the form and follow the instructions.
