Each semester scholarships are awarded to talented students to contribute to the cost of living in Venice for a semester, to promote excellence and diversity in the Globalization Program.

Among the students enrolled in the 2nd Semester 2020-21 of the Globalization Program, three were selected as RED (Residency-Excellence-Diversity) scholarship recepients:

Olivia Fothergill, Bachelor in English at University of Exeter
Luka Pejic, Bachelor in Philosophy, International Studies, and Economics, Ca' Foscari University of Venice
Francesca Virzì, Bachelor in Global Governance, Tor Vergata University of Rome

The RED scholars are expected to actively contribute to promoting and organizing co-curricular activities such as the Tea2B and Plenary Workshop.

The Tea2B are weekly informal conversations taking place at VIU on key topics that involve students and professors.

The Plenary Workshop is a key VIU event in which professors and students of the Globalization Program explore and discuss a chosen theme. The theme chosen this semester was Venice is Talking to Us.

"We had to work to find ways for students attending on the other side of the world to share our sense of VIU community and feel that they were involved with the social side of VIU."

"During my engagement as a RED Scholar, I was able to advance my student experience as a VIU Student but also to develop my interests further while discussing the topics that are unfamiliar to me. The past semester has been one of the most remarkable and unforgettable experiences of my life."

"I won’t never forget this amazing period of my life."
