Students registered at VIU come from the twelve member Universities: Boston College (USA), Duke University (USA), Ludwig Maximilians Universität (Germany), Tel Aviv University (Israel), Tilburg University (Netherlands), Tongji University (China), Tsinghua University (China), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), Università Ca' Foscari Venezia (Italy), Università di Padova (Italy), Università Iuav di Venezia (Italy) and Waseda University (Japan).
Erasmus and Socrates are exchange programs sponsored by the European Union to foster collaboration among European universities. European students registered at Ca' Foscari and Iuav are eligible to register for the Globalization Program. In the past students from Austrian, German, Dutch, French, Latvian, Spanish, Danish, Turkish and British universities have attended courses at VIU.
Most students attend one semester at VIU as part of their degree. Some students opt to study at VIU for a full academic year.
Accommodation is available on campus on the Island of San Servolo, situated in the Lagoon of Venice just 10 minutes by boat from Piazza San Marco. The majority of students live on campus with their peers from Europe, Asia and the U.S.
Italian interns help VIU students integrate with student activities in the city of Venice.
