	Intensive Graduate Activities \| Applications Open


	The 2023 calendar offers a fantastic range of opportunities for students and researchers in many disciplines, from the humanities, social sciences to the hard sciences. At VIU we experiment with interdisciplinary approaches and investigate global challenges in innovative ways. 	Literature and Culture in the Ancient World: Greece and Rome \| March 26-April 7, 2023


	The Advanced Seminar in the Humanities is open to 20 fellows who will be either in an advanced stage of doctoral research or will have recently completed their PhD. The program will consist of lectures by scholars with a seminar approach on the origins and development of literary genres and literacy in Ancient Greece and Rome. Some lectures will be on broad themes and issues, while others will be devoted to the interpretation of specific classical texts, with more focus on textual analysis. 	Call for Lectureships \| Summer Session 2023


	Teaching in the Summer Session is an opportunity for professors to practice interdisciplinary approaches and methodologies in their teaching. 	Science Communication Education and Training \| Call for Presentations


	VIU is co-organizing with the Public Communication of Science and Technology Network (PCST) a symposium that will address current challenges that academic and research institutions face with respect to public communication and public engagement. 	VIU Plenary Workshop on Identity


	The 8th VIU Plenary Workshop was held on November 25, 2022 with the theme of focus as “Identity”. The event included talks, musical performances and displays of arts, either solo or in a group, course-led or on the initiative of the participants, aimed at exploring individuality and plurality from many perspectives. 	Digital Citizenship: Exploring the Opportunities and Challenges of a Digitalized Society


	At the beginning of December, we held the on-campus seminar of this innovative blended intensive program that aimed to identify the worldwide challenges that digital citizenship entails and how to tackle these challenges, be they social, economic, environmental, or otherwise.
