Globalization Program | New Specialization Tracks in 2021

With the unravelling of the Covid-19 global crisis, new and innovative ways of teaching and studying have been both devised and implemented. Amid this difficult situation, VIU once again proves its ambitious nature and its excellence-driven choices. In 2018 the Academic Council began a thorough review of the Globalization Program, taking into account both the students’ feedback and consultations with the member universities. The outcome is the introduction in 2021 of four new specialization tracks.

  RED | Fall 2020 Scholarship Recipients  
  Red winners 2020 fall  
 

The RED Scholarships promote residency, excellence and diversity in the Globalization Program. The recipients participate in the editorial team of the Interdisciplinary Plenary Workshop, and the weekly Tea2B meetings, documenting the work of the workshop, and sharing articles on the VIU Community platform.  Applications are currently open for the scholarships for the 2nd semester.

  Internships in Italy - Call for Applications  
  Internships in Italy  
 

For Bachelor and Master's students attending a semester of the Globalization Program and who wish to do an internship in a host organization in Italy following the semester, there are interesting opportunities, two to four months long. The internships will take place either during the winter break or during the summer months.

Applications must be submitted via the candidate’s profile page on the VIU website by Thursday, November 26, 2020 at 12 pm.

  VeUMEU | European Union Simulation  
  Staff VeUMEU 2020  
 

The fourth edition of the Venice Universities Model European Union (VeUMEU) came to an end on Saturday, November 14. Organizing this year's VeUMEU was certainly not an easy task: the two-day conference, held on November 13 and 14, 2020, was in fact meant at first to take place at VIU in May. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event was moved successfully online. The simulation of the EU legislative process is organized in partnership with Ca' Foscari, Europe Direct, European Parliament Research Service.

  VIU Intensive Graduate Activities in 2021

The Calls for applications for the 2021 Intensive Graduate Activities will be opened on December 5, 2020.  Students and scholars from the member universities are encouraged to explore the programs on offer in 2021, and apply early to guarantee their place. The programs are the outcome of intense collaboration among the universities and have been developed based on the mandate of the member universities through the VIU Academic Council.

Eréndira Leon Salvador talks about her experience in the Globalization Program, and her internship at the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in the Institute for Research on Population and Social Policies (IRPPS), organized through the VIU Internship Program. She had the opportunity to carry out research relevant to her Master's dissertation that examines how the bureaucratic asylum request process in Italy has changed over the past ten years and how these changes are related to political transformations in the Italian government.

Professor Tiziana Lippiello is the new Rector of Ca' Foscari University of Venice, and the first woman to be elected to the role in the university's history. Lippiello began her six-year term on October 1, 2020.
