VIU and the UNESCO Venice Office have recently signed an Agreement which promotes mutual cooperation and joint activities with the aim to highlight the importance of culture as driver and enabler for Sustainable Development. Special focus will be reserved, among others, to the Management of cultural and natural heritage, Risk-preparedness and mitigation with regard to climate change and other emerging global challenges, the Promotion of sustainable cultural and eco-tourism.
The Agreement contributes to strengthen the focus of VIU core activities, namely Sustainable Development and Cultural Heritage, offering new opportunities to further examine the many synergies between these two fields of study. Workshops, research collaborations, training sessions, also taking advantage of the new Digital Laboratory at VIU, are among the activities encouraged by the VIU_UNESCO Agreement, which also opens the opportunity for internships for VIU students.
