Participants will learn about the multi-faceted nature of glass, about the various ways of approaching this material from the production, technology and analytical viewpoints. They will learn about the very different histories of glassmaking from the human and the geological perspectives. They will also learn transferable skills relevant to their professional and scientific career development, with emphasis on Science Communication through storytelling and filmmaking.

The summer school presented offers participants a comprehensive overview of the different aspects that define the field of nucleic acids. As the title implies, the proposed course will be highly interdisciplinary, covering topics from various research areas to inspire participants and encourage innovative, out-of-the-box thinking. Topics will range from biophysics to nanotechnology, and from molecular biology to medicinal chemistry.

Graduate and undergraduate students from various disciplines: film studies, film-making, art history, visual art, history, cultural anthropology, sociology, and anyone who would like to learn the theoretical and practical basics of film-making in various forms, experiencing Venice as a complex setting and inspiration.

The aim is to combine film analysis, theory and practice, applying them to representations of Venice, through a multidisciplinary and multicultural approach. In one part of the program, students will be introduced to the history, culture and anthropology of Venice and its relation to visual media. They will be offered basic notions of film analysis and film-making theory. The other part will be devoted to film-making practice. Students will be encouraged to develop a team project on Venice, taking inspiration from selected movie scenes and locations, their toponyms and social character, adopting a "complex narrative" when writing the script.
