Communicating research to public and policy audiences is becoming a key element of researchers’ work, but can be challenging when researchers lack the required skills and have little experience of engaging with audiences outside the academic arena.
The aim of the program is explore theory and practice on key competencies to support researchers to communicate through different tools and channels, as well as evaluating impact along the way. Indeed, science communication and public engagement are very important, especially since these activities are increasingly demanded by research funders and policymakers as a pathway towards societal impact of research.

The aim of the Graduate Seminar is to create a learning environment that allows young researchers to develop an interdisciplinary method and an international outlook on the theme of sustainable food. In order to be able to propose valid scientific answers to issues related to the right to food, it is necessary to train researchers able to interact at the international level, but also with a trans-disciplinary approach. In order to identify solutions to sustainable food systems, scholars and researchers need to learn how to share and communicate knowledge from different fields, such as law, economics, social sciences, medicine, nutrition, agro-ecology, and biology.

The primary focus will be introduced through both classical and contemporary, as well as syntactic and semantic, methodological approaches in epistemic logic, including propositional logic, modal logic, dynamic systems, inquisitive logic, theories of belief revision, possible world semantics, inquisitive semantics, and game-theoretical semantics. Additionally, we will help students understand: (i) how these approaches relate to topics in scientific disciplines, such as multi-agent systems in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, distributed systems in computer science, and models of belief revision in cognitive psychology; and (ii) how they can address contemporary social issues mentioned at the beginning, such as the spread of false information on social media and its influence on public belief systems, as well as how individuals or groups form and revise beliefs in political or social contexts.
