This year - 2021 - marks the 1600th anniversary of the foundation of Venice and the City will be celebrating with an exciting program of events organized and promoted by the local authorities, institutions and associations. Venice International University will contribute with a series of initiatives during the course of the year.
On the occasion of the 1600th Anniversary of the Foundation of Venice, Venice International University is proud to present the work of Ettore de Conciliis with a homage to the City: the exhibition "Acque e Terre" ("Water and Land") will open in September on the San Servolo campus, which has over the years, turned into a true art hub.
The program combines film theory and practice, applying them to representations of Venice, through a multidisciplinary and multicultural approach. The first week, students will be introduced to the history, culture and anthropology of Venice and its relation to visual media. During the second week, the teams will shoot a short film.
For the first cycle of VIU Lectures this year, VIU has invited esteemed guests to discuss and debate relevant topical issues of interest to the VIU community including Environmental Activism in Venice, Venice as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Future of Europe. The VIU Lectures will be online, and are open to the public.
SMACH | Sustainable Management of Cultural Heritage
SMACH is an exchange program of best practice in restoration, conservation, cultural management, strategic planning, climate change, sustainability, and science communication. Three know-how partners (VIU, City of Venice, ENEA) and four beneficiary partners in the Balkan region will cooperate in this one-year project.
