Project Partners are taking action to reduce the CO2 emission and to enhance the Ports Management.

North-Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority acquired an electric car in January 2021. The car has already travelled for more than 1.500km and is appreciated by the colleagues that used it for it's prompt reaction during the drive and for the complete absence of noise. It is in preparation a tender for a second car, that will be a hybrid plug-in. The purchase of this cars will allow them to further reduce the C02 emissions and to travel in a more sustainable and comfortable way.

The Central Adriatic Ports Authority developed a TV spot about its participation in PROMARES now on air on a regional TV channel and on the radio. Communicating and disseminating the project's results to the general public is an important aspect of participating in EU-funded projects.

The ad describes the aims of participation in the project is aired on a regional TV channel and on the radio. Check it out on the project's Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn profile! (in Italian only)

VIULectures is back in March 2021 with the first in a series of webinars on topical issues of interest to the VIU Community. This event is part also of VIU's activities to commemorate the 1600th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Venice.

VIU is launching a new Summer School and a webinar series (within the Global Challenges Initiatives) to address one of the most discussed and debated criteria for access to intensive care during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In Italy, during the most dramatic juncture of the pandemic (March-April 2020), in the most affected areas (Bergamo, Brescia, Lodi, Cremona), in some interviews given by doctors on the front line to some newspapers, we heard about "patient selection" and “chronological age criterion”.

Antimicrobial resistance, which has been increasing at a disturbing rate, is now considered a threat to planetary health. Its consequences are even now being felt in the European Union. In fact, the mortality linked to antibiotic-resistant infections on the continent corresponds to approximately 33,000 deaths yearly and the economic burden of antimicrobial resistance has been estimated to be approximately € 1.5 billion per year. Unfortunately, there is even more bad news: the high volume of antibiotics in food-producing animals has contributed to the development of bacteria that can end up in the food chain and/or environment.

The European Interdisciplinary Council on Aging (EICA), has created an ad hoc training proposal in the sector of pneumonia, which is frequent and often associated with serious complications in the elderly population.

In addition to the epidemiological and clinical aspects, the course has opened up a discussion on the various international recommendations in the field of anti-pneumococcal vaccinations.

‘VIU Community’ is a platform where VIU students and Professors can all interact across cultures across different mediums: articles, images, thoughts, intercultural experiences etc.

The platform is managed by the recipients of the RED (Residency-Excellence-Diversity) scholarships. The RED scholarships are awarded every semester to talented students to contribute to the cost of living in Venice for a semester and to promote excellence and diversity in the Globalization Program.

Safety protocols and emergency planning have been prepared with the support of VIU Health and Safety consultants and are published here.

The protocols provide for safe access to VIU including the classrooms and offices.
Students and Professors in the Globalization Program are advised to read the specific information relevant to their program and to accept the co-responsibility pact by filling out the dedicated form.
