| International Conference on Intellectual Property and Knowledge Management at VIU, October 26 - 27, 2006 The conference brought together experts and practitioners concerned with the role of the Intellectual Property System in the knowledge-based economy, especially the opportunities and challenges presented by the modern changing global economic conditions. An important outcome of the conference for VIU was the signing of a partnership agreement with the Italian Ministry for Economic Development to promote training programs on Intellectual Property. | Guggenheim and VIU engage in joint research on Art and Creativity, October 7, 2006 Intrapresæ Collezione Guggenheim and Venice International University hosted the conference Art and Creativity in 21st Century Firms on San Servolo Island on October 7, 2006. The conference focused on the role of creativity and art as a source of innovation for enterprises. | Twenty young scholars at VIU for first session of SSAV advanced seminar in Classical studies This is the second edition of the Advanced Seminar in the Humanities on Literature and Culture in the Ancient Mediterranean: Greece, Rome and the Near East. The twenty selected students will attend sessions with preeminent professors of Classical Studies from Europe and America on the birth, development and classification of literary genres. The participants will return in the September 2007 for the second session. |

| Grand challenges of sustainability science, Harvard - TEN workshop Twenty world experts on sustainability science met at VIU's TEN Center in October to discuss the principal challenges of research, training and capacity-building facing the rapidly emerging field of sustainability science. Connections and synergies are needed among a series of related initiatives linking science and technology with sustainability concerns that are now taking shape under the leadership of workshop participants. The workshop was sponsored by the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea. |
