VIULECTURES 1|07. Creativity and Technological Innovation: towards complementarity
Creativity and Technological Innovation have until now been considered as two separate disciplines. Creativity is about the world of art, aesthetics and culture generated through unarticulated creative processes. Technological innovation is about the world of scientific discovery and knowledge based on strong methodological work. This separation has characterized our social and economic development model, and has helped in generating wealth and welfare in the last century.

The scenario is now rapidly changing. New challenges are emerging for our society. Environmental concerns of suitability of production processes, ethical questions in scientific discovery, aesthetics and cultural meanings of goods are examples of the new issues we are called to address. Dealing with these challenges requires a wholly new approach that combines creativity and innovation.
VIU organizes a cycle of lectures aimed at exploring the interrelation between creativity and innovation, and its potential for our society and economy. VIU has invited two managers from important technological companies that collaborate with VIU on research projects on creativity and innovation.
