On Thursday January 28, 2016, VIU will host a presentation from the Turkish Organizing Committee of the 23rd World Energy Congress Istanbul (October 9-13, 2016). The theme of the 2016 Congress is "Embracing New Frontiers".

The Istanbul World Energy Congress represents a global platform for governments, businesses, specialists and academics to address and discuss important energy-related issues in the context of meeting the needs of producers and consumers.

The presentation at VIU by Prof. Ahmet Dursun Alkan and Dr. Vahit Çalışır will offer the occasion to researchers, experts and students to learn more about the academic aspects of the Congress that for the first time hosts an academic session with an international call for papers on a wide range of burning energy issues. A competition is open and the best papers will be awarded in Istanbul.

The Congress is promoted by the World Energy Council (WEC), the world's principal network of energy leaders and practitioners, involving over 90 countries.
