Politics and Propaganda in Film: evaluation
10% class participation
40% performance on four short reviews.
50% performance on final analytical review essay.
Evaluation of student performance is based on participation in class discussion and two types of writing assignments:
1. four reviews of a film from each of the four sections of the syllabus, 1000-1250 words each;
2. a critical essay based on two or three films not shown in class, which incorporates analytical themes on politics and propaganda discussed in class as well as an assessment of the effectiveness of the director’s vision and technique, 2000-2500 words in length.
