Tranquility (Greek: ataraxia, German: Gelassenheit) is a highly important theme in the history of (practical) philosophy.
The seminar aims at a coherent understanding of the some major positions. The seminar posed to deal with the Stoics and the Sceptics of antiquity, the Mystics of the later middle ages, and – in the main – with Schelling and Schopenhauer. Finally, the seminar should have a look at the relevant texts by Heidegger.
The seminar is intended to create a scientific discussion between post-graduate students and academic teachers.
