September 24 - 26, 2006. Course for Sustainability Alumni Seminar
The Alumni Seminar is conceived as a highly interactive event, with participants expected to contribute heavily to it. The aim of the seminar is in fact to support Course for Sustainability alumni in their endeavours to make the policies and programmes of their governments more sustainable - environmentally, socially and economically; to reinforce and encourage the use of the personal relationships fostered among course alumni and project partners; and continue the learning and information-sharing process.
Three main factors were at the basis of the participants’ selection: the experiences they have had since completing the course; the relevance of their work to sustainable development; and the quality of their application. A diversity of topical and geographical representation was kept into consideration during the selection process.
A key component of the three-days Alumni Seminar will be the active role of the selected alumni: priority will be given to participants’ presentations, who will present papers on the problems and solutions concerning sustainability, encountered during their work experience. A simulation exercise and a day-long exercise looking at challenges and solutions to implementing sustainable policies and programmes will round out the programme.
