Venice International University, located on the Island of San Servolo, opens its campus to the city with a party to celebrate the end of the spring semester.
On this occasion VIU students, coming from different nations of the world, conclude their experience in Venice and invite Venetian university students and young people to discover the wonderful spaces of the island of San Servolo: a live act by the funk band Disco fever, a review of dance and cocktails from all around the world, lounge, electrohouse and drum’n’bass sonic atmospheres by Dj’s Ravixx(Q) and Satoshi, a lounge garden in which to relax and enjoy videoart, and performances by a veejay who will mix images along with the music.
Concerning the artistic proposals of the party, Venice International University chose to involve Venetian and international young creative people like the multiethnic band Disco Fever, dj’s Ravixx(Q) and Satoshi, and the students’ association AIESEC, all coming from experiences in diverse fields of Venetian life: university, performance and events.
After the undergraduate awards ceremony, the Dean, the artists and the curator will present VIULife: billboards catalog, published by Marsilio.

VIULife is a project promoted by Venice International University for its tenth anniversary. As an ideal follow up to the Radar project which created a bridge between European and Venetian contemporary artists to re-think European cities identity and to enable Venice to be looked at and reinvented with new eyes, VIU asked the artists Boris Missirkov and Georgi Bogdanov to document with their photographic works the route the university has undertaken during its first ten years.
With irony, passion and a poetic insight the artists made up a game which allowed students, researchers, professors and staff to share the experience of creativity, participating in a process which transforms a creative idea in to a finished artwork.
VIULife is a new way to experiment with university life, interacting with spaces in a creative way, and a special way to communicate and narrate academic activities and projects through art and events.
The result is a series of big panoramic billboards which depict Venice International University students, researchers and professors, documented in the VIULife: Billboards catalog, published by Marsilio.

Boris Missirkov and Georgi Bogdanov, who will attend the catalog presentation and the party, live in Sofia, in Bulgaria and are photographers, film directors, graphic designers and videoartists who have already worked in Italy (collaborating with Fabrica and Rai Italian television).

The artworks, exhibited in VIU spaces in San Servolo island, can be viewed on the website: http://www.univiu.org/artatviu/viulifebillboards/
