March 1-2, 2018
Alcantara and Venice International University, with the support of the UN Global Compact, are organizing (March 1-2, 2018) the Symposium “Coping with Change: Global Warming and Decarbonization”.
-What impact do these global phenomena have on people's lives?
-What do companies do, in light of such phenomena?
-What could be the role of scientific communication and communicators?
-What is the role of technology and innovations to face this subject?
These are some of the questions that will be addressed during the two-day Symposium, where top-level scientists, academics, governmental and non-governmental organizations, corporations, and experts in communication will debate the issues.
The Symposium will be organized in three core sessions:
Core Session 1 – People in a changing context. The impact of Global Warming and Carbon Neutrality on the life of Citizens
Core Session 2 - Global Warming and Carbon Neutrality. The impact on the behavior and decisions of Corporations
Core Session 3 – How should Communication evolve to drive the process?
This is the fourth edition of our Symposium, following the previous ones organized by Alcantara and Venice International University. The 2016 edition “Sustainability and Corporate Value” was held in Tokyo, also with the collaboration of Nikkei, and Waseda University. While the 2014 and 2015 editions - titled respectively “Sustainability and the New Automotive Value Chain” and “The Automotive Ecosystem on the Global road to Sustainability, the Asian Perspective” - took place at Venice San Servolo Island.
PhD students and researchers from VIU Member Institutions are given the opportunity to participate in the debate, by bringing their expertise and research results in a poster session scheduled on Thursday March 1, during lunch break.
10 Posters investigating the issue “Coping with climate change” will be selected. Priority will be given to those posters covering one of the topics indicated as core sessions.
PhD, Post-doc, young researchers and Master students from all the VIU Member Institutions carrying out research on Global Warming and Carbon Neutrality can apply.
Applicants must submit the application form, a motivation letter, CV and poster abstract.
