An important outcome of the conference for VIU was the signing of a partnership agreement with the Italian Ministry for Economic Development to promote training programs on Intellectual Property. Alfonso Gianni, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry announced the agreement and affirmed the strategic value of intellectual property in the Italian government’s industrial policy: in the current climate of global competition, Italy must favor innovation in products and manufacturing rather than seeking to lower costs. Value chains must be created by developing scientific research, consolidating the patenting system and improving training on intellectual property.
VIU Dean, Stefano Micelli asserted that the aim of the agreement is to develop a shared sensibility about intellectual property and its implications regarding the internationalization of commerce and manufacturing, competitiveness on global markets and business strategies.
Five events will be coordinated each year by Venice International University and the European Patent Office.
