Classrooms and offices
All of the academic and administrative offices of VIU are located in the main complex near the entrance of the island, where there are also fully equipped classrooms and seminar rooms. An auditorium, at the disposal of VIU for conferences and major events, is located in the main building.
VIU ID card
This photo I.D. card will be issued in the VIU main offices (Zone 2, ground floor) for long term students only. This card you will give you access to:
- VIU facilities
- Discounts at Ca’ Foscarina bookstore and Testolini art supply store
- Discounts for the water taxi company Veneziana Motoscafi.
Message boards and mail boxes
In Zone 2 on the ground floor there are:

| . message boards; |
| . mail boxes for receiving private mail; |
| . a post box for outgoing mail; |
You will also find daily messages regarding logistics and events on the island.
Local and international newspapers
You wil find local and international newspapers in the bar located on the ground floor of Area 6 in the VIU main buildings.
General rules and guidelines
VIU is an International Centre for Higher Education and Research. Individual behaviour, dress and manners should be respectful of this.
Smoking is prohibited inside all VIU buildings.
Please keep the facilities clean and tidy.
Repair or replacement of VIU property, including library material, will be charged to the individual responsible for the damage. Students will be charged communally if individual responsibility cannot be determined. Charges will be deducted from the student’s deposit.
Use or possession of illegal drugs will lead to expulsion from VIU. During your stay you are subject to Italian laws.
All students are expected to respect their surroundings and fellow students during their stay in Venice.
