Each student will be given an item to research. The well-studied subjects such as sugar, salt, the potato, cod, tea or coffee will be avoided. The student will write a project consisting of a) the origin and early development of the item; b) its importance/presence in artistic media; c) its presence in the contemporary world. This project requires constant tutoring and its constituent parts will be modified, if necessary, case-by case
