Politics and Propaganda in Film: readings

Readings: Reading assignments will be drawn mainly from five books listed below. They are available in paperback editions, generally for less than $30. They should be made available in the VIU library for students. Several additional articles or book chapters may be included later. I will notify in advance of revisions to reading list, and I will bring copies of anything that the library can not acquire.

Films: There are 12 films scheduled to be shown, one for each week of the semester. These films should be acquired by the VIU library. Non-English language films should be in native language with English subtitles. The course will need to be located in a room equipped for showing films.
