Document Actions

Open Solutions for SMEs

The “Java Open Business” (JOB) is an innovative Italian project developed by SUN Microsystems Italy in cooperation with TeDIS Center. JOB aims at increasing the knowledge and the diffusion of open source software among Italian small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The objective of the project is twofold: to foster research on open source and its impact both within business and within IT industry, and to create a place where the business demand meets open source software supply.

JOB intends to promote the creation of an ecosystem for the development of next generation applications and services based on open source software targeted to SMEs.
Starting from 2005, JOB developed a online portal that wants to federate developers, ISVs (Internet Service Vendors), universities and software Houses in a collaborative open environment. The portal is the place where all those actors have the opportunity to interact and cooperate in order to develop new business applications based on open source software.

Today, JOB portal is recognized in Italy as one of the most important web site for Open Source. JOB has been invited in several events on Open Source in Italy and has been reviewed by the most important technical and economical newspapers in Italy.
