General retail store hours are from 9.30 to 12.30 and from 15.30 to 19.30. Although many shops in Venice now stay open throughout the day, others close on Monday mornings and for lunch from 12.30 to 15.30. Grocery stores, pharmacies and bakeries open as early as 8.30 and close at lunchtime. Most food stores are closed on Wednesday afternoons and on Sundays. The main shopping district for clothes and accessories is the area between Rialto and San Marco.
