| Inauguration of Fall 2007 semester and presentation of Nokia Only Planet catalog. September 6, 2007 On September 6, 2007 the Fall semester of the School was inaugurated by Dean Stefano Micelli. The professors who are teaching at VIU for the Fall semester presented their courses to 70 students from the member universities. The Fall courses offer a blend of cross-disciplinary and disciplinary courses, that address contemporary issues or adopt new or comparative approaches. On the occasion Dean Micelli also presented the Nokia Only Planet:Innovating through Empathy catalog recently published by Marsilio Editori. | VIULIFE:Islands of Creativity project began October 5, 2007 This creative project aims at involving VIU students in discovering hidden traits of Venice, going beyond the postcard image of the touristic side of the city. The students will visit Venice’s islands where there is investment in innovation and creativity. Working with a multimedia artist, Gaston Ramirez, students will produce images and videos that will contribute to develop a new path of discovery of the City. | Advanced Seminar in the Humanities 2006-2007 “Literature and culture in the Ancient Mediterranean: Greece, Rome and the Near East”. September 13 - 19, 2007 Twenty advanced graduate students from different nationalities met at VIU with eleven of the best scholars in the field of Greek, Latin and Ancient Near Eastern literature and culture to investigate the relationship between themes, motifs and structures of the texts belonging to these literatures and to examine the processes involved in their transmission and preservation in both oral and written forms. The seminar was organized by the School of the Advanced Studies in Venice (SSAV) with the support of the Fondazione di Venezia. | VIU President, Umberto Vattani gives opening remarks at the AILOG conference Coordination for Competition, September 28, 2007 The conference was the third edition of a series of annual AILOG (Italian Association for Logistics and Chain Supply Management) events focusing on the use of technologies for the improvement of logistic processes. It was organized with the cooperation of the Italian Ministry for International Trade, Italian Institute for Foreign Trade and VIU’s TeDIS Center which has received recognition from AILOG as a techno-scientific center of excellence for the development of applied research in logistics, particularly to support the internationalization processes of small and medium enterprises. |
